Post New Amsterdam Herald - November 18 2008

Thommy Bupkiss, staff reporter

NEW AMSTERDAM, NA – A night of terror unfolded as neo-Nazi groups led by escaped transhuman criminal Iron Hand (formerly known as Justice) spread anarchy by sabotaging the city's power grid and plunging New Amsterdam into darkness. With anti-transhuman sentiment running at an all-time high, Iron Hand rallied white supremacists and renegade transhumans to his cause, leading a city-wide orgy of violence and destruction that culminated in an attack on the UN Headquarters in Tortoise Bay. Having somehow acquired an invention of Professor Mandrake's – the so-called "Goliath Smasher" tank – Iron Hand attempted to gain entry to the building for as-yet unspecified reasons. He was apprehended by Captain Paragon, while the city's power was hastily restored by the timely intervention of Dr. Adam Armstrong, also known as The Universal. Armstrong has been outspoken about using his abilities to revolutionise energy production in Columbia and, since the power grid was restored by unconventional means, he has appealed to Mayor Boer to leave his so-called "energy latices" in place for the time being, a move that Boer has called "premature".

Transhuman Uprising?

Many are calling the events of November 13th a 'Transhuman Uprising', but Mayor Boer was quick to dismiss such claims, instead characterising the riots as racially motivated, pointing to the videos released by Iron Hand prior to the riots in which he espoused neo-Nazi beliefs. Nonetheless, since the arrival of Captain Paragon and the prison breakouts there has been a feeling of severe civil unrest brewing in New Amsterdam. The NAPD report that the escaped Russian transhuman known as Black Fury was recently found chained up in Devil's Playground, having had one of his forearms severed clean off – what weapon could harm the seemingly-invincible Black Fury in such a way remains a mystery. So far, no one has come forward to claim responsibility for his apprehension, but the same rumours abut Devil's Playground that always surface at times like this are flying: that there is a demon protecting the area from harm and that, despite the urban decay and extraordinary crime rate in the borough, the streets themselves seem to rise up and expel intruders. Unconfirmed reports also place the young man known as Hell Razor, notorious for his involvement in the recent events at the Blenheim-Gilboa Dam, in the area at around the time Black Fury was found.

Elsewhere, there are eyewitness reports that the being known only as Portal may be at large after he escaped during the power outages in September. If so, this may be the beginning of the most dangerous transhuman attack on New Amsterdam yet.
