Ah, well, here's a can of worms you're about to open...

Darkness and Dante are considered opposites to the extent that they've been called "two halves of a whole" and "opposite sides of the same coin" (it's not homoerotic...honestly). As enemies, one was Lucifer's Champion and the other Lucifer's sworn enemy, one wore white and the other black, one surrounded himself with allies and the other was a stoic loner (check the entrances for the World Title match at Endgame 2006 for the best example of this). As allies, Dante solved his problems with violence and passion, Darkness was taciturn and fundamentally opposed to concepts like revenge. Dante is handsome and clean cut, Darkness is rugged and dangerous. Dante is flashy, with powers that involve heat and blasting things, while Darkness is into more subtle telepathy and control through fear - conversely though, Darkness is the more accomplished warrior, while Dante tends to rely on his wits and occasional dirty tricks (even as a babyface). Dante tends to have terrible things happen to him, but wins in the end, while Darkness usually sees everything go his way and then find out that he's lost in some subtle way he couldn't have predicted (see my most recent feud for an example of this).

They've drifted apart now though after Dante went and blasted Darkness's hand off and Darkness took his belts off him. It remains to be seen how closely their destinies are intertwined.
