I'm cool by disagreeing?
As for the not caring invalidating my other statement- I don't care because what I have heard is lame and mediocore. Does that statement work better?
Alright, Hendrix, yeah whatever, he was just another bluesman who had a neat bag of tricks*. And comparing people to him is a bit cliche now, so I'll ignore that.
So I should like Prince because he was the first person to get an advisory label? What the fuck has that got to do with quality of music?
*Not to say I don't like Hendrix's music, I do, but at the same time there are guys who have taken what he's done and carried it further- SRV namely. Hendrix, as a guitarist has been surpassed. Hendrix as a bluesman has definately been surpassed (hell, nobody's beat Robert Johnson yet though).

You are trying to be yes.
No. Best to refrain from any at all.
Hasn't been compared now, was compared in the 70s when he started. It's cliche because people like you try to defame any good that Jimi did for the art.
Like? no. Respect? Hell yes. You show no respect of an artist when you lambast them because you have not heard anything you like, yet admit to not hearing much at all.
Go look up: Sexy Motherfucker, Kiss, Little Red Corvette, Batdance (set the trend for soundtracks), Erotic City, Seven, Alphabet Street, Darling Nikki, 1999, hell even Diamonds and Pearls.
If you even get half of them and cannot respect him after that, I pity you. Do not confuse like with respect. I don't like you, but I respect you. Ya get me?

Oh no, some dude with a stick up his ass doesn't like me.
Listen dude, I'm not defaming anything Jimi did, but uh, let's face it, Stevie Ray absolutely killed Little Wing and Voodoo Chile, and that's how music goes. People come along and do better things.
Why should I respect someone who's music doesn't connect to me at all? For a musician to get my respect, I have to like them, or at least recognize their abilities. To me, Prince is lame and while he could have lots of abilities, I'd rather not waste my time listening to it when I could be listening, to say, Death to the Pixies. Hey, that's what I have on right now, go figure.

Batdance (set the trend for soundtracks)
Um, to wit: The Royal Tennenbaums Soundtrackhas set the bar of excellence for soundtracks though.
Does this mean we should worship Mark Mothersbaugh? (Wait, don't answer that.)

I think the soundtrack comment had to do with your pop culture point. But soundtracks... meh. I can make mix tapes too.

Ehm, the soundtrack for the Royal Tennenbaums is the score for the flick. Sure, it has other people's songs on it too, but the originals mixed in just capture the feel of the picture so well.
As for Prince making pop culture...for jokes about being the Artist and his weird symbol thing, yeah. For having a picture of him in the MCI Center with a midget dressed as him, yeah. For being on the New Muppet Show with the reggae Muppet, hell yeah. For his music? He doesn't mean much to people around my age (And Gray, c'mon, who would know more, a guy my age or you, especially since I have long conversations about music with people my age) so maybe that should tell you something.

Ehm, I am aware of what's on the soundtrack. But overall, they're still meh.
I think it's just silly to even suggest that one person "made" pop culture.

Not fucking pop culture, not he invented it-Christ, didn't I say that?
For fuck sakes....
Johnny Cash invented pieces of pop culture such as the couplet from Folsom Prison Blues, or the Man In Black persona, both lasting pieces of Americana.

I had already explained what I meant though.
And if you couldn't infer what I did mean, then you aren't very bright.
