My issue with the very concept of "reverse-racism" is the same as my issue with the stuff in this article: it assumes "racism" is a term to describe the systematic oppression of Africans by Europeans over the last few centuries, which is silly: that oppression happened because of racism; they aren't the same thing.

What's more, the idea that someone can be "accidentally" racist is just offensive. Yes, there is systematic, institutional racism that people experience if they're part of a society or organisation that is racist and which owes more to upbringing than active malice, but plenty of people who grew up in little villages and never saw a black person in their life can learn not to discriminate on the basis of skin colour. The whole point of racism is that it has to be something you actively do of your own volition, otherwise how can you be blamed for it, or expect to change it?

Thirdly, why the hell does this program have special privilege? Okay, so let's say all white people in Western society are racist, why does the University of Delaware not fall under that umbrella? Presumably some white Americans helped come up with this (and if they didn't, then we have black/asian/whatever people telling white people they're all evil - and that's racism...).

Well said! My brain doesn't work so fluently in the morning but thats just what I was thinking. It's all been so blown out of proportion. It's not like it doesn't exist but it's hardly a widespread thing. Everyone's disgusted by it outside of the people committing it and their supporters.

It's kind of funny to me that they are almost supporting this idea that says white people are better than blacks. You're white, so you're better but you shouldn't be! Take our 12 step program that won't really change your skin color, so you'll still be a superior evil!
