The problem is that you don't download the shows as files as far as I can work out - rather, you download the 4OD player and that allows you to watch them. I assume it's designed to stop exactly what you're trying to do, which is sort of silly given that it's free but it may be connected to possible foreign distribution in the future I guess.

yeah,
I installed the 40D and used the interface to look up the show and it had a cool little section for the show and then it has a download button and as they put it, "watch later for free" I hit the button and got the error. As I understand it, and now with proof, they only allow traffic if you have an IP address from the UK.

So. My apartment manager isn't around much (she shares her time between three properties), but she was today, and I paid her my (very late because of the lost bank card) rent. And then half an hour later, I locked myself out. GENIUS. No answer from her number, so I had to call my girlfriend's mom. She's at home with no vehicle because my girlfriend's truck is in the shop, so she's using her mom's car. So I had to get my girlfriend's sister's friend to drive me up to the school where the girlfriend works, and she was in a meeting, so I had to hunt around for her keychain to get my spare keys. The best part is that after I called her mom, I came wandering back to my front door for no reason, put my hand on the knob, and THEN it shut! I could've gotten back in if I had known I hadn't closed it all the way.
