Post PS2 to PC connection, please help me!
The subject says it all, I have a PS2 and a computer with a TV tuner card and a S-video(I think that's what it's called) port, how the hell do I get the damned PC to disply the picture from the PS2?

I forget what the cable is called, but it's the kind that goes from your TV to the wall that isn't the power cord... I'll call it the TV cable here.

If you have that kind of adapter for the PS2 (if they even exist) then just hook it up to the TV tuner card instead of a TV. It should be pretty straight forward.

If not, then plug your video/audio cables into a VCR, and hook the VCR up to the TV tuner card using a TV cable. So it'll be PS2 -> VCR -> TV tuner.

Okay, wait, is the problem hooking things up, or do you have it hooked up, but don't know how to get it to show up on the computer?

The second one, I believe. Mags and I worked out that he was using Windows Media Centre which, as far as I could work out, only supports X-Boxes on account of Bill Gates is a fuckhead. So yeah...I think it's a software issue, but I know exactly nothing about what is required to make a TV card actually show stuff on the screen.

Well, what kind of TV tuner card is it? That's where we'll start.

Could just use ATI's tuner software for it, because I know where to get that, but, um, it sucks. The software for this card might be better. You can use Windows Movie Maker to do it as well, plus a bunch of other programs I'm sure. But the software made for it might be best.

I don't know for sure, but I'm going to assume co-axial cable is universally standard. If that is true, then the PS2 has a co-ax out that would normally plug into the back of your TV. Your "TV" is now your computer. The TV card probably came with a program that would let you watch TV if it was plugged into the wall. In this case the signal is not coming from the wall and cable, but the PS2. Still functioning on logic based on America, set the TV station in the program on your computer to 3 or 4 or something to that effect. Through the software you can probably record too.

cheers.

When I've hooked up my PS2 to my computer, I used an ATI card and the TV software that came with it. Just treat the TV card like you would the back of your TV. Then, when you open the TV program, cycle through the Inputs until you see the game. At least that's what I did.

That's the problem I have Strikmore, I don't have a TV tuner program that can show the damned thing...anyone have suggestions on what to use?

If it has tyhe ability to record video and capture images it's a huge plus.

You bought a TV tuner card that didn't come with software?

I got it with the comp I bought and the software I got with it was sadly the fairly retarded Windows Media Center, that can as Thommy saiod only handle X-Boxes for reasons too stupid and too corporate to mention.

Try Windows Movie Maker. File > Capture Video > select your devices.
