So my parents have a mess of *.chk files on their hard drive, which I know is scan disk "droppings".

two of them are 1gig (2 gig total). and that's a lot on a 6 gig drive running Windows95. I never really tried to fix a machine based off of the results from scan disk and their modem is too slow to research what I can do with the files.

so....do I just flat out delete the files or should I bother trying to figure out what is in the files?

Is each *.chk file a different file or is it a combination of stuff? They didn't have any gig files before so that doesn't make sense.

Can anyone provide me with information on the subject? Squirm might know about this stuff so if no one knows and has him on messenger can you please ask him about it?

I'd like to resolve this before Sunday before I go home.

I've just deleted those with no problem before. A gig ia fucking bullshit size for that.
I'd just toss 'em.

Usually when scandisk makes those save files it's because it's found data on the computer that's been deleted - but not overwritten by new data so it's still present on the computer

Toss those suckers right out without worry.
